Philosophy

The Fredericktown Flea Market is a locally-owned business that celebrates the idea of buying used and buying locally. Every Saturday, we’re here to provide an opportunity for our neighbors to try a new business, to buy and sell local baked goods and produce, to save money by purchasing affordable items, to make environmentally-conscious choices, and to build community.

We believe that when it comes to supporting the local community and promoting sustainability, that small choices can add up to make a big impact. Be a part of it!

Why Buy Used?

To Save Money

1Buying anything used (except antiques) is less expensive than the new alternative, sometimes up to 90% cheaper, but generally at least 50% cheaper. So you can (pick one): save twice the money, or buy twice the stuff.

To Save the Planet

2Used items don’t require the consumption of natural resources. Buying used reduces the amount of pollution that manufacturing releases into the environment – including toxic chemicals, pesticides, and carbon emissions.

To Support your Neighbor

3Buying used items locally keeps your money in your neighborhood, supports good causes, and helps the local economy.

Why Buy Locally?

Local Economy

1Local businesses (like the vendors at our flea market) are more likely to use local ads, banks and other services.  They produce income for local people and are also more likely to support local charities.

Community

2Supporting local businesses preserves the economic diversity of our communities and the unique character of our neighborhoods.

Sustainability

3Supporting local businesses is good for the environment, because it cuts down on fuel consumption. Buying locally produced goods reduces the need to ship goods from thousands of miles away and also cuts down on the distances shoppers travel.
