History

The Fredericktown Flea Market is housed in the historical Sun Glo furniture factory building. It has been a part of the community for over 100 years. We are privileged to share in this building’s rich local history.

Sun Glo Furniture Factory

The Sun Glo furniture factory was built in the late 1800s. It was one of the most influential local industries of it’s time. It helped to support the community by employing hundreds of local carpenters and workers. In it’s prime, it wasn’t uncommon for locals to have at least one family member or friend who worked at Sun Glo. The Sun Glo factory was in business for decades until it closed in the mid 1900s. But, residue of it still exist today. If you look at the water tower behind the building, you can still faintly see the words “Sun Glo” painted on it.

After Sun Glo

Since the Sun Glo factory closed, the building has housed a variety of  businesses. Some of the items that have been manufactured there include airplane wings, dog cages, rain coats, and trophies. Spaces of the building have been used for businesses such as a cabinet shop, sign shop, and gym. It has always been a space that community members have used to contribute to the local economy.

Today
